The problem that my design addresses is the uncomfortable handle design of most toothbrushes available on the market. The impersonal handle shapes of previously designed toothbrushes are difficult and awkward to use, especially for elderly people with deteriorating muscle function and arthritis, and for children with small hands. In addition to this, most toothbrushes are not environmentally friendly, using synthetic materials that cannot be recycled and which will not break down in the natural environment.
The target customers for my design solution are people who are looking for a more personalized and comfortable toothbrush that uses natural materials and has less of a negative impact on the environment.
The cost for the production of this product will be higher than that of other toothbrushes due to the higher quality materials it is made from. Its design is more sustainable, and has a longer functioning time than ordinary toothbrushes because only the head needs to be replaced periodically. The design incorporates a button to spin the head which requires neither batteries nor electricity, so that it has less of an ecological impact. The memory foam surrounding the handle will need to have air-tight packaging in order to retain its malleable properties. The base on which the toothbrush stands is magnetized so that the toothbrush will stand upright and will not rest against a potentially unclean surface.
My design will solve the problem of the uncomfortable toothbrush handle with its handle‘s unique ability to conform to the shape of the consumer‘s hand.
